Swing timing, defensive reactions, and usable pitches decide who sticks. That matters when you're saving MLB 26 stubs for upgrades rather than spending on cards that only help a collection. Jesús Made is the headline name. The Brewers shortstop has switch-hitting value, range, arm strength, and a swing that feels clean from either side. He's the sort of card that can stay at short for a long time.

Made and Lagrange set the pace

Made's 99 OVR reward requires 40 Pipeline cards, yet he earns that cost in actual games. His load is controlled, so inside heat doesn't feel like a guessing game, and his power shows up without selling out for it. Carlos Lagrange is just as important, maybe more so for players building a rotation. At 6-foot-7, the Yankees right-hander creates a tough angle, then backs it up with an Outlier fastball and five different pitches. Other cards worth making room for

Leodalis De Vries belongs near Made at the top. His Oakland card brings switch-hitting offense and the flexibility to fit almost anywhere in an infield. Mike Sirota also plays above the usual prospect-card standard. His center-field defense is useful, while his quick Turner-like swing gives him real pull-side damage. Franklin Arias has been a nice surprise too; the Red Sox infielder gets the barrel through the zone in a hurry. Theo Gillen takes more getting used to because of the big leg kick, but players who settle into that rhythm can do plenty of damage.

Good options with a catch

Jacob Reimer, Michael Arroyo, and Josiah Hartshorn are solid choices if you want production without chasing every top reward. Reimer and Arroyo have short, easy swings. Hartshorn gives first base some left-handed thump. Liam Doyle and Kade Anderson are the better non-elite starters, although Doyle's splitter needs care; leave it up and it can disappear fast. Josue De Paula is a very good designated hitter from the 30-card reward path. He's not just there to fill a slot.

Where to be selective

Some of the bigger names don't translate as well. Ethan Salas has a plain catcher swing, Charlie Condon can feel slow against inside velocity, and Walker Jenkins has a timing pattern that won't suit everyone. Joshua Báez is especially difficult in home-run moments because his swing path lacks consistency. Tyler Bremner's four-pitch arsenal is easier for strong hitters to read.
