Rockstar’s best-selling title, Grand Theft Auto V, will finally be legally available in Saudi Arabia and the UAE later this month. First released in 2013, the open-world crime game has sold over 180 million copies globally—but gamers in these two nations have had to wait more than a decade for an official release.
That wait ends on July 17, when both GTA V and GTA Online will launch for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms in the region.
Government Approval Secured
The news broke via an official post from the Saudi General Authority of Media Regulation, which confirmed that the game had been rated for local release. PlayStation Middle East also shared the update, confirming availability in the United Arab Emirates on the same date.
The game has received a 21+ age rating in both countries. This rating is stricter than many international standards—comparable to an ESRB Adults Only (AO) rating—but it marks a significant shift in media openness within the Gulf region.
This new classification gives players full access to GTA V without the need for VPNs, foreign PSN/Xbox accounts, or imported discs.
